Window Cleaning & Pressure Washing in Indianapolis, IN

Indianapolis is where we started and it is still where we do most of our work. In one week we might clean divided-light sash on a Herron-Morton Place Queen Anne, wash a Fountain Square storefront, and rig a downtown tower. Walden Window & Pressure Washing covers all of it, and every quote is free and in writing.

Window cleaning across a city with 170 years of glass

Very few service areas ask as much of a window cleaner as Indianapolis does. The near-downtown neighborhoods are full of pre-1900 masonry housing — Queen Anne cottages, Italianate and Second Empire — and their windows are original wood sash with many small panes. They cannot be squeegeed in one pass, and a crew paid by the window will always cut corners on them.

Then there are the 1910s and 1920s bungalows and Tudor Revivals through Irvington and Meridian-Kessler, the ranch houses of the 1950s through the 1980s, and downtown, forty-nine stories of curtain wall at the top end. We are equipped for every one of those, which is the practical reason we can quote a whole portfolio without subcontracting the awkward parts to someone else.

Why Indianapolis glass gets dirty faster than it should

This is not your imagination. The American Lung Association’s 2026 State of the Air report gave Marion County failing grades in all three categories, and ranked the Indianapolis metro 11th worst in the nation out of 211 metros for annual particle pollution. Indianapolis residents also drive more miles per head than any other large urban area in the country. Fine particulate and brake dust settle on glass and light-colored masonry and bond there.

Hard water compounds it. Citizens Energy Group reports the local supply averages 320 mg/L of calcium carbonate, about 19 grains per gallon, which is very hard. Sprinkler overspray and runoff from that water leave mineral deposits that ordinary cleaning will not lift, and if they sit through a summer they etch the glass permanently. We treat mineral spotting as a separate service with an honest assessment first, because on badly etched panes the truthful answer is that the damage is in the glass, not on it.

About Indianapolis

Indianapolis is the state capital and the sixteenth-largest city in the United States, with a population of roughly 901,000 inside a metro of about 2.1 million. The city and Marion County consolidated under Unigov in 1970, which is why the city limits enclose 368 square miles — low-density suburbs and even working farmland sit inside them.

The 1821 street plan still governs how you move around: a grid centred on Monument Circle with diagonal avenues radiating outward. The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument at its center has been the city’s emblem since 1902. Indiana limestone has been a signature building material here since the 1800s, and it is a surface that rewards careful washing and punishes aggressive pressure.

The economy is not only sport and conventions. Finance and manufacturing each turn over roughly $30 billion, and the city is one of the country’s major logistics hubs — the FedEx National Hub at the airport, eight Amazon fulfillment centers, and a top-ten airport for air cargo. That mix is why our work here runs from single-family homes to office towers to distribution frontage.
