Rope Access Window Cleaning at Do It Best Headquarters
Do It Best is one of the largest hardware cooperatives in the United States, and its headquarters sits inside the restored Electric Works campus on Swinney Avenue in Fort Wayne. The building is early twentieth-century industrial brick, six stories, with long banks of factory glass running the full width of every floor.
There is no practical way to reach that glass from the ground. The upper floors sit well beyond pole range, and the plaza and pedestrian routes below rule out parking a lift for days at a time. We worked it on rope.
Why this one went on rope
Our technicians anchor at the roofline and descend the elevation in passes, working each bank of glass from the top down so nothing below gets re-soiled. It keeps the plaza open, keeps tenants working, and costs less than the equipment hire and street closure a lift would have needed.
Restored industrial glass has its own quirks. Original steel frames, deep sills that collect grit, and glazing putty that does not appreciate pressure. It gets hand-detailed rather than rushed.
